Summer Glau plays a Terminator named Cameron Phillips

Truly, a number of things have changed from the leaked original pilot to the aired pilot. Here are some of the details:

  • The original pilot’s Burke Daniel (Tim Guinee), Sarah Connor’s former fiancé has been replaced by Charley Dixon (Dean Winters) in the actual series. The computer file photo of Sarah Connor is replaced in the aired pilot as the one shown in the original pilot featured Burke Daniel.
  • In a dream sequence at the start of the aired pilot, Sarah Connor now finds John Connor in a library (unlike in the original pilot wherein she pulls him out of a class).
  • The infamous Seung-Hui Cho and the events that lead to April 16, 2007 Virginia Tech massacre played a role in retooling a scene involving students who were dealing with the Cromartie, Cameron, and John Connor shooting aftermath.

Are you ready for your Terminator fix?

Sarah Connor (Lena Headey). John Connor (Thomas Dekker). The year is 1999 and two years have passed since the infiltration and destruction of Cyberdyne Systems as well as the deaths of engineer Myles Dyson, the T-1000, and the T-800. (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles takes place two years after Terminator 2: Judgment Day…shouldn’t it then be 1995 instead of 1999. But who is counting right?)

The Connors, who live by their mantra, “no one is ever safe,” continue on with their nomadic lifestyle until they encounter (what seems to be a) T-800 (who goes by the name “Cromartie” (Owain Yeoman), like Madonna, you know…) in Red Valley, New Mexico. Facing death, John Connor is (on cue) saved by a female named Cameron Phillips (Summer Glau) who reveals herself to be (a yet to be identified) Terminator (that seemingly loves potato chips).

The pilot ends with The Connors deciding to forgo their original plans of crossing the border in lieu of destroying SkyNet once and for all. Cameron shares that she has a way to accomplish just that and leads them to a Security Trust Bank in Los Angeles that houses a time machine.

Fast forward to September of 2007 (pretty convent period as now production won’t have to worry about wardrobe or sets).

This is only the beginning.

Terminator Salvation (2009)

Terminator Salvation (2009) is director McG’s (Charlie’s Angels; Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle) take on the world created by James Cameron, Gale Anne Hurd, and William Wisher Jr. (The Terminator; Terminator 2: Judgment Day). The script, a post-apocalyptic view of the future set in 2018, was reported to have undergone a number of rewrites by Paul Haggis, Shawn Ryan, possibly Anthony E. Zuiker and Jonathan Nolan, before John D. Brancato and Michael Ferris were credited. The changes were so extensive that novelist Alan Dean Foster even had to resubmit his work which was based on the original shooting script.

Unlike the now defunct television series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008 & 2009) (abbreviated as Terminator: TSCC) which disregarded director Jonathan Mostow Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) as canon, Terminator Salvation embraces the trilogy as it explores the life of mankind’s savior–John Connor–fourteen years after Judgment Day.

Look out for Linda Hamilton (voice) reprising her role as Sarah Connor in this film.
